Indigenous Art Park Panel Discussion

Indigenous Art Park Panel Discussion

Starts:

Wednesday, November 16
7:00 PM

Ends:

Wednesday, November 16
8:30 PM

MADE and the Edmonton Arts Council will be hosting a panel discussion with the curators and artists behind Edmonton's Indigenous Art Park as part of its City Building Lecture Series. In partnership with the Art Gallery of Alberta, the City of Edmonton, and Athabasca University, MADE is presenting a lecture series featuring the creators behind the spaces which are transforming the discussion on Edmonton's built environment. This event is also supported by Nuit Blanche Edmonton.

Edmonton is home to Canada's second-largest urban Indigenous community. The Indigenous Art Park is set within upper Queen Elizabeth Park, located in Edmonton's North Saskatchewan River valley. For centuries, this area has been a place of gathering, relationship building, and commerce for many peoples. It was here that early relationships led to the development of Alberta's Treaty No. 6 Territory, the Province of Alberta, and the City of Edmonton.

The rich history of the Queen Elizabeth Park makes it an appropriate venue to house Edmonton's first curated Indigenous public art park. Join us in a discussion about this exciting addition to Edmonton!

There will be a reception with snacks and a cash bar following the event.

Tickets may be available at the door.
