Celebrate the Spirit of Christmas when the Ukrainian Male Chorus of Edmonton (UMCE) presents A Festive Mosaic at McDougall United Church (10025 101 Street) on Saturday, December 5, 2015. This annual Christmas concert will feature the sounds of the Edmonton Metropolitan Chorus, Jubiloso! Bells of Concordia and the UMCE. Showtime is 7pm.
For over 30 years, the Ukrainian Male Chorus of Edmonton has pursued the objective of developing, promoting, and fostering a greater appreciation of the traditions of Ukrainian choral singing. Besides singing in many cities in Canada, the chorus travelled to Poland and Western Ukraine in 2002, to Australia in 2008, and returned to Ukraine in 2011 for a concert tour, also performing in Poland and Austria.
In the summer of 2014, the UMCE participated in the World Choir Games in Riga, Latvia. As well, the choir has performed on three occasions with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in the past 5 years. To date, the choir has released 4 recordings: "That Old Sheepskin Coat", "The Ukrainian Male Chorus of Edmonton LIVE!", "Malanka Suite" and "Kateryna."
