Just because I have left my old job and started my own place it doesn't mean that my passion for helping great charitable organizations has stopped! Although it's a little late this year, the Bacon Day tradition will continue in my new home, Workshop Eatery.
The evening will take place in the one of a kind Mosaic Centre, and become my new restaurant's coming out party! The events of the evening will be MC'd by none other than CTV Edmonton's very own, Erin Isfeld, and as always, the proceeds from the evening wil go to support Youth Empowerment Support Services, a wonderful local charity helping our Edmonton's youth at their time of greatest need. Our fundraising goal this year is $10000.00, and once again Gordon Food Services has agreed to donate $0.25 in non-perishable food for every $1 we raise, up to our goal.
There will be food and drink stations, tray passed appetizers, the incomparable DJ Hector Castro will be spinning, the silent auction table will be filled with some incredible items, and, weather permitting, we will be going whole hog again, cooking up a delicious whole roasted pig provided by our good friends Alan and Nicola at Irvings Farm Fresh. As always, Chef Andrew Cowan and I will battle it out in our 6th annual Bacon Dessert Cook-off. Despite being down 3-2 in the series, I am feeling confident after last year's win, and being on home soil.
It will be a fun-filled evening, with delicious food, great company, and an incredible cause. I sincerely hope you will join us to celebrate the big night!
