The Edmonton Social Planning Council’s Lunch & Learn Series is a series of engaging lunch-time talks about social issues and organizations that have an impact on our community. Poetry, Imagination, Reality with Candas Jane Dorsey

Since the Industrial Revolution, art and artists have had to defend themselves
from the "modern" idea that reason and rational thinking exclude the
imaginative world of the arts.

Poet and novelist Candas Jane Dorsey reminds us yet again that poetry in all its forms,
whether in words, music or visuals, is a practical tool of social imagination.

She will read from her own work and cite others to support this idea, and will remind
us that Plato and Pinochet both thought that poets were dangerous to the state.

Join us at the Milner Program Room, 1st floor of the Stanley A. Milner Library at 12:00, April 8.
