Out of Mind, Out of Sight

What happens to people who suffer from
mental illness and commit violent crimes?
Where do they go? How are they treated?
Four-time Emmy winner John Kastner filmed
inside the Brockville Mental Health Centre
for 18 months, allowing 46 patients and 75
staff to share their experiences with stunning
frankness.

Ariel

When Ariel was just 33, his legs were
shredded by an industrial dough mixer in
Mendoza, Argentina and he became a living
embodiment of the ongoing duel between
man and machine. From that point on,
Ariel began to rediscover the meaning of
freedom: to rebuild his broken identity,
keep his family together and design his
own artificial legs.
