Music Maker Mondays with iHuman

Starts:

Ends:

Learn to make music on "Music Maker Mondays." This Makerspace series will cover how to make electronic music, the beat making process and the basics of using digital audio workstations (DAWs). Each of the 7 sessions will build on the next, however, newcomers are welcome at each session. Each class is divided into three segments (Intro, Application, Do Your Thing). By the end of the 7 classes (with regular attendance), each individual should be equipped with enough knowledge of the Reason and Logic software to start, and complete their own personal projects. Regular attendance is encouraged but not mandatory, so if you’ve missed a class you are still welcome to come.

Class 1: Intro to Sound
How does it all work? What’s an Oscillator? What does that button do? These questions and
more are answered in this first class on Logic and Reason.

Class 2: Analog To Digital
With a grasp of the basics of Reason, we move on to the tools we use; keyboards, launchpads,
and different controllers we connect to the computer.

Class 3: Hip-Hop Vs. Electronic Vs. Rock Vs. Pop
“I know a little; now what? How do I create the music I want? What makes it that type of music?”
The secret to that genre is...well, come to class and find out!

Class 4: Sampling Worlds Part 1: What’s Your Flavor
Every software comes with built in drums. But what if you can’t find that particular sound you’re
looking for? Why not make it from scratch? Sampling 101

Class 5: Sampling Worlds Part 2: Take What You Want
Ever heard a piece of your favorite song used in another song? Wanna learn how to make it
work like the pros do? Sampling 102.

Class 6: With A Little Logic.
So far we’ve covered Reason. Here’s a chance to see what Logic can do, and how with both,
you can do anything you want to.

Class 7: Officially play time!
Been to every class? Missed a few? Here’s your chance to ask questions on anything you missed, and learn more about something that interests you!
