All Hail the Oil Kings!

Edmontonians are invited to a victory celebration to congratulate the Edmonton Oil Kings on their outstanding 2013-2014 season, winning the MasterCard Memorial Cup. Join Mayor Don Iveson, Alberta Premier Dave Hancock and members of City Council as they cheer on our newly-crowned champions.

The event will include an opportunity for the public to get their photo taken with the players and the Ed Chynoweth and MasterCard Memorial Cup trophies. Minor league hockey players are encouraged to sport their community league jerseys and all fans are encouraged to wear their Oil Kings gear to the celebration.

The Oil Kings won the Ed Chynoweth Cup (WHL) on May 12, defeating the Portland Winterhawks. They went on to beat the Guelph Storm by a score of 6 � 3 on May 25 to win the prestigious MasterCard Memorial Cup (CHL). It was the first championship win for the Oil Kings since 1966. The Memorial Cup has been given to Canada�s junior hockey champions since 1919 in memory of those who died in World War I.
