Chris Marker (July 29, 1921 – July 29, 2012), was a French filmmaker (film essayist), writer, photographer, poet, and multimedia artist who challenged moviegoers, philosophers, and himself for many years with his complex queries about time and memory. The Metro invites you to travel back in time with the ground-breaking and visionary Marker to Paris in 1962, the year of possibly his most creative outburst of filmmaking.

La Jetée (The Pier)
Marker's La Jetée is one of the most influential, radical science-fiction films ever made, a tale of time travel told in poetic still images. In the film, a survivor of a postapocalyptic Paris is obsessed with distant and disconnected memories of a pier, the image of a mysterious woman, and a man's death. La Jetée is not only unlike any other film in the history of cinema but also endlessly influential to other artists - Terry Gilliam's Twelve Monkeys being the best-known homage (screening here as a companion piece with La Jetée).

Twelve Monkeys
In a future world devastated by disease, a convict is sent back in time to gather information about the man-made virus that wiped out most of the human population on the planet.

Screening May 24 with an encore in the first week of June.

Box office opens 45 minutes before the film begins
Admission: $10 Adults, $8 Seniors/Students
