The Edmonton Social Planning Council’s Lunch & Learn Series is a series of engaging lunch-time talks about social issues and organizations that have an impact on our community. The Foyer Project: Supporting Formerly Homeless Youth Towards Success

Join us for this presentation delivered by Giri Puligandla, director of Planning and Research, Homeward Trust Edmonton

The Foyer model was developed in Europe, Australia and the United States to help homeless youth
find housing and employment, and access education, training, life skills development and ongoing
case management support. The Foyer is designed to build resiliency and capacity for successful
independent living and to prevent a return to homelessness.
With funding from the Government of Canada, the Foyer was introduced as a pilot project in 2013 in
Edmonton and Calgary. In Edmonton, the Foyer model was adapted by Homeward Trust as a service
to complement supports provided to formerly homeless youth served by Housing First teams and
staying in short-term supportive housing settings.
It has been delivered by the Bredin Centre for Learning, based on a holistic style of career planning
that incorporates education preparation, employment preparation, life management skill development,
and essential workplace skill development.

Join us at the South-East corner of the 1st floor (far-left hand corner) of Stanley A. Milner Library.
