It began as an idea in the summer of 2012. What if everyone irrespective of their age, physical ability, home life, gender, or geography had the opportunity to actively pursue justice and get involved in the fight against modern-day slavery?

What if there was an event enabling people to do this? One which would raise funds for anti-trafficking organizations working on the front-line, include people from a wide range of communities and inform thousands more across our city about this issue?

What if Edmonton came together and stood united against this injustice?

What if this wasn't just a dream, but a reality? And so WalkFree came to be.

WalkFree is an indoor sponsored walk to be held at the spacious Victoria Soccer Centre on April 12 2014. Four anti-trafficking charities have been chosen and each participant is able to walk for the charity of their choice.

On the day of the walk, we do not want anyone to feel unable to participate due to limited mobility or simply because they have too many little heads to supervise. If you feel this might be the case for you, please let us know as soon as possible and we will match you with a Special Walker; a volunteer dedicated to assisting those with mobility issues, those with their hands full, or those who feel they might benefit from a walking partner.

A cross section of Albertan justice-based organizations have been invited to exhibit at the event to provide those taking part with further touch points to get involved and all attendees will have the opportunity to write a "note of hope" to victims still trapped in or recently rescued from exploitation.
