Hello Edmonton (#yeg) Youth! Are you interested in civic engagement? Do you want to learn more about issues that affect youth in our city? Would you like the opportunity to have your voice heard by City staff and Council? Well now that we've got your attention, we want to let you know all about our upcoming YEG Youth Forum! We are very excited to launch our first ever external event open to youth from across the City. The day will be filled with many opportunities for you to get engaged about civic governance, meet and discuss with City staff and ask questions of your City Council members. Sounds awesome doesn't it!? So do we still have your attention? Read on for more details!

On Friday March 28, 2014 City Hall will be opening its doors to the youth of Edmonton. Successful participants will spend a day discussing and learning about a whole range of topics from Women in Politics to Heritage Planning. In the morning, we will have expert City staff onsite to help co-facilitate discussion sessions with you and our City of Edmonton Youth Council members. Next, lunch provides you with an opportunity to Meet and Greet with Councilors and to listen to a panel of Executive Assistants to Council. After lunch, we'll jump into more skill based discussion sessions where we'll delve deeper into areas like the Winter City Strategy and Downtown Revitalization.

To conclude the day, you will take part in an event that we like to call 'Mock Council'. You, the youth of Edmonton, will be able to play a variety of roles inside Council Chambers, debating a hot topic that involves multiple perspectives and areas of interest. It's going to be a fantastic opportunity for you to network, learn about municipal issues and governance and participate in exciting discussions and debates with City staff, Councilors and like-minded youth.
