Smash His Camera
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis sued him, Marlon Brando broke his jaw and Steve McQueen gave him a look that would have killed, if looks could kill. To the celebrities he pursued, photographer Ron Galella was the beast who threatened beauty. As it turned out, he gave them a strange and lasting beauty they might never have known without him. Inherent in the story of this notorious paparazzo are the complex issues of the right to privacy, freedom of the press and the ever-growing vortex of celebrity worship.

Winner of both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, director Ryan Coogler's Fruitsvale Station follows the true story of Oscar Grant, a 22-year-old Bay Area resident who wakes up on the morning of Decemer 31, 2008, to get a head start on his resolutions: being a better son, partner and father. Crossing paths with friends, family and strangers, Oscar starts out well, but as the day goes on, he realizes that change is not going to come easily. His resolve takes a tragic turn, however, one that would shake the Bay Area--and the entire nation--to its very core.
