Take Back the Night is an internationally held march and rally that seeks to protest and raise awareness about gender based violence.
This year the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton is hosting a Take Back the Night event that will begin with a bit of a rally and a few guest speakers. Following this, the group will participate in a candle lit march through the downtown area as a symbolic "taking back" of space. After the march, there will be an open mic session and time for people to speak to and/or grab resources from all of the community organizations present at the event.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend the rally and open mic, however, the march is traditionally (and will be this year) for self-identified women only.
