Edmonton Story Slam

Edmonton Story Slam moved to The Haven Social Club one year ago so we could build an event that is a playground, a fight club, a celebration, a rebellion and a free space for writers. Explore your creative side through story unhindered. On Wednesday, May 18, we mark the one-year celebration of this evolution in an environment that let's us be ourselves - we've been going strong as an event for more than five years. Freedom is essential to our mandate because in so many other corners of life, we have to bend who we really are. Story Slam is raw experiment and protest against the conformist forces of this world. There is a 150-seat capacity. 18 plus only. Mature content. Your host: Alison Hagan.

Your stories are welcome on our stage at The Haven, 15120 Stony Plain Road. 10 writers. 5 judges. 5 minutes to tell your tale (gong at 7 minutes -- complete rules below). Sign up at 7 p.m. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. If you're hungry, Pharos Pizza is now served. If you're thirsty, there is a cash bar. This event is by donation. All audience donations that go into the hat are awarded to the top writer of the evening. The $5 entry fee from writers goes towards the cost of running this event. Story Slam is held at The Haven on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.

Edmonton Story Slam is supported by the Edmonton Arts Council and the City of Edmonton. Thank you also to our partners: The Haven Social Club, Duncan & Craig LLP, LitFest, NeWest Press, On Spec Magazine, Other Voices and The Unknown Studio.
