 sell Hulbert--a local businessman--got permission from the City of Edmonto
 n to build the Block 1912 building. The Hulbert Block (as it is officially
  called) was one of the first buildings built in Edmonton after it amalgam
 ated with Strathcona and it is one of only a few 100 year-old buildings st
 ill standing in Edmonton today.
