DESCRIPTION:18+ No Minors\nDoors open at 8:00 pm\nThere’s a lot to love abo
ut Michael Bernard Fitzgerald (MBF). His sweet\, approachable disposition
gives way to an undeniable confidence onstage. He is a man who can break h
earts playing solo with an acoustic guitar and loop pedal\, and in equal m
easure\, make venues soar with full backing bands\, choirs and dancers. Fr
om his spontaneous live show song-sampling that name checks the likes of A
lanis\, TLC\, Ke$ha and Flo-rida\, right down to his trademark canvas kick
s\, MBF personifies his music: optimistic\, uplifting\, honest\, daring an
d full of love.\nFrom his modest first show at a tiny folk club in 2005\,
to the heights of Virginfest\, touring the country with Lights and Hey Oce
an and playing with the likes of Stars\, k-os\, Bedouin Soundclash and Hed
ley\, the course is now charted for Michael to embark on his next musical
journey. He is a man who thinks big picture\, grand scale – not only in te
rms of his success\, but also in communicating his music. In 2007\, the Un
iversity of Lethbridge supported his “These Proportions Are Epic” tour\, w
here MBF escorted a band of 50 musicians playing University theatres throu
ghout Alberta. That same year\, Michael performed at Calgary’s Grand Theat
re with a backing band of 26 musicians\, returning to that venue twice mor
e with 54 performers on stage. The Alberta Foundation for the Arts granted
Michael funding for a full-length recording (which he made in Nashville)
and in 2008\, Michael won the X92 Radio station’s “Xposure” contest - land
ing him that coveted spot at Virginfest. Michael was crowned “most promisi
ng songwriter” by the Calgary Folk Festival where he performed that year.
Rawlco Radio awarded Michael a grant for the recording of his first full-l
ength release.\nThat release\, The MBF Love LP (LOADMusic/EMI) was unveile
 d in June of 2009. A soaring\, emotional\, studio album produced by Juno-A
ward winner\, Russell Broom (Jann Arden) was conveyed in larger than life
form by the “Love and Manners” show – a sight and sound spectacular coordi
nated by Michael and involving 120 local musicians\, dancers and visual ar
tists on stage. Michael next envisioned “The Loud Love Choir Tour” a 90-pe
 rson choir\, four-piece horn section\, percussionists\, guitars and keyboa
rds which took The MBF Love LP to new heights. Two sold-out shows at Knox
United Church in Calgary translated into almost 2\,000 in total attendance
. The show was scaled back to a choir of 30\, with most of the other eleme
nts remaining in place and was taken to Lethbridge\, Kelowna\, Vancouver a
nd Edmonton in 2010.\nAfter assembling delightful\, indie-inspired\, frien
d-filled videos for album tracks\, Care For You and Brand New Spaces\, MBF
recently revealed the superbly executed video for album single Movie Life
  - complete with choreographed dancers and 3-D post production effects\, a
ll happening while Michael and friends hurtle through the night on a prett
y kick-ass party bus. Michael rounded out 2011 with select tours and numer
ous summer festival plays. He is in the midst of recording of his next alb
um “YES”\, with an expected for release in early 2012. You can expect to f
all in love.Performing: Michael Bernard FitzgeraldMy name is Michael Berna
rd Fitzgerald and I play music\, I'm from calgary alberta canada. I am a f

by Kim Mattice Wanat and accompanied by the UofA orchestra conducted byPet

rody on the tales of the Olympian gods. There are a series of humorous vig

play mischievously in rebellious moods. Offenbach intended for the opera t

rock act Kasabian\, making their Edmonton live performance debut on Frida
y April 6\, 2012 at Edmonton Event Centre\, as part of their world tour in
support of the new album Velociraptor!\, released through Sony Music Cana

! was influenced by a variety of musical acts from Elvis Presley to the Ch

chno melodies and the dreamlike “Neon Noon.”\nFormed in 1999 in Leicesters

DESCRIPTION:18+ No Minors. Doors open at 8:00 pm.\nThe youngest Aussie band
to turn 10 years old\, in 2011 THE CAT EMPIRE celebrated the 10th anniver
sary of their first show together. In an industry where few bands survive
beyond the first album\, if even making it that far\, 10 years is a big a
chievement. Considering they are still all under the age of 30\, and have
 consolidated themselves as a world-class touring act\, it's outstanding.\n
To celebrate this milestone\, the band are undertaking a world tour\, and
North America is the final stop. "We feel incredibly grateful to the fans
who supported in the early days\, and have continued to support as our ca
reer gained momentum. It’s important to get to all of them this year to c
elebrate. Canada and the USA – you’re next."\nThe Cat Empire’s 10 year an
niversary is rare success story\, which shows that a combination of hard w
 ork\, great songs\, a good vibe\, a genuine vision\, and a little bit of l
uck go a long way.\nThe first Australian tours were undertaken in a convoy
of cars handed down from parents\, or borrowed from friends\, sleeping on
the floors of friends of friends\, and putting up their own posters at ea
ch stop. Word quickly spread about this young band that could deliver a p
arty like no other. Soon they were undertaking national tours around Aust
ralia\, and financing their first album\, all under their own steam. By th
e time they signed their first record deal they were packing out concert h
alls in each Australian major city\, and had a solid fan base all over the
country.\nIt wasn’t long until the rest of the world heard about The Empi
re\, and an international army of supporters formed. The band members cre
dit their Australian fans and international backpackers in Australia for m
arketing them overseas. "Everywhere we went overseas\, people would come
up to us and say a friend in Australia sent the album to them\, or ‘one of
our mates who travelled through Australia brought it back and we all burn
ed it!’" In fact\, The Cat Empire suspect illegal piracy of their album i
n countries where it was not available overseas ended up being their great
est marketing machine. "We would arrive in cities like Montreal and Berli
n for the first time\, and everyone in the audience would already know the
words to every song. I guess the money we lost in cd sales through those
territories\, we have made by getting so many fans on board\, so although
we don’t endorse it\, we certainly cant begrudge the file sharing."\nThe b
and has now sold over a million albums and DVDs in all parts of the world.
They have headlined global festivals\, won ARIAs\, and played on Letterm
an and Leno\, contributed where they can to a range of causes\, and mainta
ined a cool under the radar presence while still playing to stadiums worth
of fans at each stop.Performing: The Cat Empire
