Mercer Warehouse is a model of sustainability. Built in 1911 by John B. Mercer, it acted as (you guessed it) a warehouse for much of its life. But as Edmonton grew and industry began to get pushed further and further away from the downtown core, the demand for a central warehouse began to fade. Rather than demolishing the space and constructing a new building in its place, the entrepreneurial community of Edmonton decided to move in, giving Mercer Warehouse a new life and a new purpose.

Today the warehouse is home to a number of Edmonton's best and brightest startup companies, and acts a shining example of what local businesses in this city can accomplish. Please join us for an afternoon tour of the space as we learn, interact, and teach ourselves about the state of local business in our city, and get L.I.T. on Location at Mercer Warehouse.

TOUR GUIDE:

As the Community Manager of Startup Edmonton, Warren Johnston has become an expert on all things local and all things Mercer. Every business in the warehouse has its own story to tell, and Warren has heard them all. We're honoured to have him take us through the halls, sharing a story or two as we go. At the very top of Mercer Warehouse, we will be stopping for a very special presentation on Warren's own business, Startup Edmonton, where we will have a chance to learn about the space where so many local business ideas come to fruition.

LOCATION:

We will be meeting at 2:30 on the first floor of building 5. At 3:00 we will set off as a group to Mercer Warehouse, located at 10363 104 St, one block away from campus.
