104th Street Art Dedication & Community Picnic

Starts:

Sunday, October 02
3:00 PM

Ends:

Sunday, October 02
6:00 PM

All are welcome to join the 104th Street Downtown community and the Edmonton Arts Council for a picnic celebration to officially welcome Destiny Swiderski's installation to Michael Phair Park.

“Amiskwaciw Wâskâyhkan Ihtâwin – Beaver Hills House Park” features birds and script that flow over a painted background of lodgepole pines and sky. The scene, painted by celebrated Edmonton muralist and spray paint artist AJA Louden, evokes imagery of the boreal forest and the river valley that meanders through Edmonton. Destiny Swiderski and AJA Louden, as well as installer Fred Nash, will be on hand to talk about the art.

The afternoon celebration will also include a dedication and blessing by Elder Jerry Saddleback, and a performance by Running Thunder Dancers. Food and refreshments will be provided by Native Delights and 104 Street business partners, including: Great Canadian Kettle Corn Co., Pinocchio Ice Cream, Earth's General Store - Downtown, careit urban deli, Shoppers Drug Mart and Sandwich & Sons.
