Cariwest is a lively three-day Caribbean Arts Festival that takes place annually in the heart of downtown Edmonton. It began in 1984 as part of the Klondike Days Parade (now K-Days) and was a way for Caribbean immigrants in Edmonton to celebrate and share their culture.

Cariwest festival events attract more than 60,000 people over three days. The festival is a show of pride for Caribbean culture. It employs the talents of musicians and dancers from all over the world to bring the sweet melodies of Soca, Steel Pan, Reggae, Hip Hop, Calypso and Brass Bands to Canada's festival city.

The multicultural nature of the city of Edmonton is captured in the annual Cariwest celebrations. It provides an opportunity for those who are unfamiliar with Caribbean culture to experience a taste of our tradition. Cariwest is open to everyone. Anyone interested in participating is welcome, whether they are of Caribbean heritage or not. The carnival is free and open to all who choose to attend. There is an entrance fee for some special events.
