Sand carving is a performance art, much like ice carving. Professional sand carving artists, Delayne Corbett, Wilfred Stijger and Edith van de Wetering, and a group of novice sand carvers are creating amazing sand carvings in Old Strathcona this summer. The artists will be creating their masterpieces on July 3 to 5. Watch them at work and then come back and marvel at their final creations until July 12. Sand on Whyte is open to the public from 10 am to 10 pm. Admission is by donation.

The very first Sand on Whyte sand carving exhibit was held in Old Strathcona in 2013. Many of the ice carving artists who come to the Ice on Whyte Festival also travel the world and carve sand in the summer. Sand on Whyte is very pleased to welcome Delayne Corbett, Ice on Whyte's artistic director, from Vancouver and Wilfred and Edith from the Netherlands to Old Strathcona and we can't wait to see their amazing work again in 2015!
