On June 2, 2015, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) will release its Final Report on Indian Residential Schools in Canada.

TRC is also hosting a 4-day closing event in the National Capital Region from May 31 to June 3. It is working with its national partners to host events in cities and regions across Canada - including Edmonton.

The City of Edmonton, the Confederacy of Treaty Six First Nations, the University of Alberta, the Edmonton Public Library, the Province of Alberta's Ministry of Aboriginal Relations, Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada-Alberta Region, the Edmonton Police Service, the Edmonton Catholic School Board and the Edmonton Public School Board are partnering to deliver local events commemorating this historic milestone in our collective history.

As part of the Youth Dialogue Panel, 4 youth will share their experiences and reflections on the impacts of Indian Residential Schools in Canada, as well as their vision of resiliency of youth and hopes for reconciliation and our collective future. A listener panel including Youth Advocates, Educational Leaders and a TRC Commissioner will follow.

The Celebration of Hope and Reconciliation will showcase cultural sharing in celebration of the resilience of First Nations, Metis and Inuit people in Canada, and will serve as a gesture of sharing Aboriginal culture with non-Aboriginal classmates, neighbours and friends.
