Book Club

Starts:

Friday, October 31
12:00 PM

Ends:

Friday, October 31
1:00 PM

Love reading? Love to talk about books you've read? Come join us for lively discussions on all types of fiction and non-fiction. Hear about the books other people are reading and discuss books we'll read as a group. We’ll feature a different title or author each month. Share your impressions, thoughts and interpretations of a book that we have all read. New members are always welcome.

Milner Book Club:
Join fellow readers the last Friday of every month, 12 noon, for our lively discussion about books, movies, culture, current events and anything else that pops up for discussion. Lots of fun and everyone welcome.

The next meeting will fall on October 31st, meaning that the next meeting will be informally known as the Milner Spook Club, meaning if you’d like to show up in costume, no one would think less of you. You are not required to wear a costume, but wouldn’t you rather tell people about the time you came to your book club as an Autobot?

Of course, there’s the books: the Commonwealth Prize-winning Mr. Pip by Lloyd Jones, where an unorthodox teacher educates his Pacific island charges with nothing but a copy of Great Expectations; and the Governor General’s Prize-winning The Golden Spruce, a strange true account of Canadian eco-terrorism with mini-lessons on botany, Haida spirituality, and other lessons you didn’t know you were missing.
