CALLING ALL BACON LOVERS!
It is almost upon us again. Bacon Day 2014 will be held on Friday, August 29th at LUX Steakhouse & Bar. In honor of celebrating our 5th year we felt it was time to switch things up this year. The format of the evening will change slightly. Rather than a stuffy sit down dinner, we will preparing a pork-filled menu featuring several food stations and over 2 dozen various types of tray passed appetizers. A whole roasted pig will highlight this feast! Don't worry; we will uphold the pound of bacon per person ritual. Interspersed throughout the room will also be a small selection of craft beer and wine producers to help wash all that tasty bacon down!
We are so excited to have Jerry Aulenbach, AKA the Bacon Man, co-hosting with us, and are pleased to announce that we will be featuring the delicious pork from Alan and Nicola of Irvings Farm Fresh, featuring their delicious Berkshire pork!
We are so pleased to share that we will be working alongside YESS, The Youth Empowerment & Support Services, again this year. This not for profit organization is unconditionally devoted to helping youth facing difficult realities. Our hope is to be able to raise over $10000.00 for this much needed great local organization and we can't do it without your help.
We are pleased to share that $25 from every ticket sold will be donated directly to the charity. Making this evening even more incredible, our grocery partners, Gordon Food Services, has agreed to donate $0.25 worth of non-perishable food for every $1 we raise. This could equate to $2500 or more of groceries to an organization in great need.
We will also be featuring an incredible mix of fantastic silent auction items to help us reach our goal. Be sure to browse as you make your way around the room.
And of course, no Bacon Day event would be complete without a bacon dessert cook-off between Chef Andrew Cowan and I. I believe that Andrew is up 3-1 in the competition, but this I will ensure that we have a have a detailed polling system to ensure the count is on the up and up, as I am sure there was some vote tampering last year!
So get off your wallet, buy your tickets, start your crash diet, book your colon cleanse, and be sure to save the date for what is sure to be the funnest and most delicious night of the calendar year. Your stomach will thank you for the great meal, and your soul will thank you for giving back to our great community!
