Historic Festival & Doors Open Edmonton

Starts:

Friday, July 11
9:00 AM

Ends:

Friday, July 11
9:00 PM

Historic Festival & Doors Open Edmonton visitors can explore museums and historic sites, participate in heritage activities such as tours of buildings, gardens, natural areas, cemeteries and neighbourhoods. Visitors can also enjoy community milestone celebrations, participate in hands-on pioneer experiences, search archives and learn about documenting their own family history.

Free guided Doors Open tours of buildings and areas of architectural significance have become a major focus of the festival. People love to "snoop" behind the scenes, hear the stories of the building and, most importantly, the people who built them and lived in them.

This years festival is an exciting showcase of the greater Edmonton's rich history in culture and recreation. From the 1913 construction of the Edmonton Gardens, to the first street car to cross the high level, to the opening of the Strathcona Edmonton Public Library, these historic events enriched our community in a way that allowed us to learn, be active and connect with others.
