#YEGLongDay is a one-day storytelling blitz - and you are the storytellers! #YEGLongDay is an annual event that brings together the voices of every Edmontonian under the sun - all 17 hours of it. #YEGLongDay takes place through social media. Share your experiences, your thoughts, your feelings and your fun in the form of tweets, Facebook posts, Instagram pics, videos, drawings, etc. and use the hashtag #YEGLongDay. Doesn't have to be fancy: we think there is beauty in the everyday, and we aim to capture it all. On June 21st, from 12:01am to 11:59 pm - midnight to midnight - we want to collect as many reflections as possible. So take a photo of your breakfast that day, tell us how you're spending your afternoon, tweet someone's witty remarks, capture a moment, and put into words what the longest day of the year means to you.

The project is created and supported by Edmonton Pipelines, a local urban space think-tank started by Heather Zwicker, Daniel LaForest, Maureen Engel and Russell Cobb that is run out of the University of Alberta. The team initiative in part uses the city's open data to digitally and creatively map, examine and ask key questions about the experiences of Edmontonians, such as the paths we take, the paths we nearly took, the ways we organize ourselves, the layered histories of our homes and neighbourhoods, our perceptions of ourselves and even our daily sensory experiences. More information can be found on the Edmonton Pipelines website: edmontonpipelines.org.
