Garlic Mustard Weed Pull in Millcreek Ravine
Starts: Saturday, May 24
|
Ends: Saturday, May 24

Garlic Mustard is a non-native plant species that is invasive to our environment and can be destructive to native biodiversity and habitat. Garlic Mustard can reduce native vegetation including woodland orchids such as yellow lady slipper and can cause negative long term effects in soil which reduces available plants for wildlife such as deer, birds and insects. Garlic Mustard t is listed as a prohibited noxious weed in the Alberta Weed Control Act and the Mill Creek Ravine is the only known location in Edmonton where this non-native species occurs.
In order to eliminate Garlic Mustard from Mill Creek Ravine, the Edmonton Naturalization Group and the City of Edmonton are organizing a weed pull and looking for volunteers who would like to help. Garlic Mustard is easy to pull and has no thorns or skin irritants.
Light snacks and water will be provided.
