NDP LEADER MASON SET FOR FEBRUARY 18 NOMINATION – BC NDP’S ADRIAN DIX TO SPEAK

EDMONTON – BC NDP leader Adrian Dix will join Alberta New Democrats at the nomination meeting in Alberta NDP leader Brian Mason’s Edmonton Highlands-Norwood Constituency, to take place Saturday, February 18th.

“It’s an honour to be the New Democratic Party candidate in my home neighbourhood once again.” said Mason. “Being elected once to represent this community is wonderful. To do be able to do so for a record fifth time would be truly special.”

Mason was elected MLA for the area since 2000 and re-elected three times. He also represented Northeast Edmonton on City Council from 1989 to 2000.

“There’s a lot of work still to be done. Getting the East Edmonton Health Centre properly staffed and functioning, getting our power bills down, and keeping our local schools open and staffed are my priorities.”

“Both Alberta and B.C. are experiencing growing inequality, with governments pursuing narrow agendas that fail to put working families and the middle class first.” said Dix. “I’m excited to talk about the challenges we both face in setting a positive agenda for change.”

The nomination meeting will take place at 7:00 PM at Riverdale Hall (9231 100 Avenue) in Edmonton.
