Edmonton, AB. Mercury Opera presents 104 Underground - an operascape at Downtown's 104th Street- Bay/Enterprise Square LRT Station platform, (Jasper Ave at 104th Street) November 25th, 2011. Mercury Opera presents an opera installation combining some of opera's greatest hits specially arranged by Boris Derow, and sung by a quartet of sopranos high and low, accompanied by Edmonton-based string quartet Vif ,a French word for bright, lively or vibrant – a term that captures their attitude and approach to music-making. Costumes are created by Edmonton's extraordinary fashion designer Natasha Lazarovic of Temnafialka.com

Under the direction of Artistic Director Darcia Parada, Mercury Opera's presentation features an all Canadian cast of rising operatic talent. Hailing from Regina,Saskachewan, mezzo soprano Alicia Wojnarski, a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera's Regional Council auditions makes her Mercury Opera debut singing the sensual Mon coeur s'ouvre from Camille Saint Saens' Samson et Dalila. Calgary's stratospheric coloratura soprano, Lauren Woods sings The Queen of the Night's Vengeance Aria, Mozart's dazzler from The Magic Flute; while Edmonton's own Nevada Collins,and Sherwood Park's Jill Hoogewoonink perform the exquisitely sublime Flower Duet from Lakme by Delibes. The performance culminates in a special rendition of one of opera'sfavorite chart toppers,Puccini's Nessun Dorma sung as a quartet.

Admission, which is $25, includes a pre-performance party beginning at 6pm hosted by Devine Wine and Spirits, Eyecare Group, Armstrong 29 and Coup. Audience members can stroll to various reception sites located along the 104th Street Promenade to sample beverages (wine, beer) and local fare. The performance follows on the lower level platform of Enterprise Square LRT Station.

Tickets go on sale November 3rd at Devine Wines and Spirits, Eyecare Group, Coup and Armstrong 29 (cash only) with $2.85 from each ticket sale benefitingthe ETS Donate a Ride program.

Patrons are encouraged to travel by LRT to the event.
