Transit Oriented Development Open House

Starts:

Tuesday, May 17
6:30 PM

Ends:

Tuesday, May 17
9:00 PM

Neighbourhoods throughout the city can be transformed in the future into places where people can easily walk, bike and take transit to their daily destinations. To encourage and guide this kind of development, the City of Edmonton has prepared draft guidelines for Transit Oriented Development (TOD).

Transit Oriented Development is an exciting approach to building a city that concentrates housing, shopping and employment along a network of walkable and bikeable streets within a five minute walk of transit centres or LRT stations.

A series of public open houses is scheduled in May to share more information about the future benefits for people living in neighbourhoods near existing stations and stations along future LRT lines.

The open houses will provide more background on what Transit Oriented Development could look like in various neighbourhoods in the future, as well as an overview of the City's draft TOD Guidelines. Citizens will have an opportunity to provide feedback that will be considered as the draft guidelines are finalized for presentation to City Council later in 2011.

6:30 ? 9pm (Presentations will begin promptly at 7pm)
