From Pandora to Underland: Designing and Bringing The Worlds and Stories of AVATAR and ALICE IN WONDERLAND to Life

Lecture by Todd Cherniawsky. In almost all disciplines of design, the tools for delineation and communication have evolved from analogue and tactile processes into an almost all digital pipeline. How have the last ten years of digital tool evolution helped and hindered design? And, how does somebody who is interested in film art direction navigate into a craft that is difficult to study, and offers few opportunities? Surveying the last ten years of his experiences as a production designer and art director in the film industry, Todd Cherniawsky will express both his admiration and concerns on the changes in film design and visual storytelling, and what it's possibilities are in the future.
