Al Fresco 104th Street

Saturday, June 12
Last June, deVine Wines & Spirits, with the help of the Downtown Business Association, Melcor Developments, Sobey's, and Foster's, hosted a 104th Street block party called "Al Fresco 104th Street" The event was a success, bringing hundreds of people to the street and raising over $20,000 for charity. Due to the overwhelming positive response from the community, another Al Fresco has been organized to take place on Saturday, June 12.
This year's Al Fresco will follow a similar program as last year, but in addition to the giant outdoor movie screen, there will be a sound stage featuring local musicians, a half-pipe skateboarding demonstration, an outdoor wine-tasting tent, and a repeat of the wildly successful Portuguese charcoal barbecue hosted by Sabor Divino restaurant. Carbon Boutique will once again import 500 square-feet of grass sod to demonstrate the benefits of Yoga, and Tzin Wine and Tapas, Blue Plate Diner, Lit Wine Bar, Ric's Grill, and Red Star Pub will all extend their patios onto the street for the balance of the evening so attendees can dine in style under the stars.
Al Fresco 104th Street is certainly a fun, family-friendly, well attended event; but most importantly, it is designed to raise money and awareness for a local charity. This year's charity is E4C's School Lunch Program. Like many such organizations, the School Lunch Program has been hard hit by the economic downturn, and the 104th Street Community hopes to do whatever they can to keep this worthy cause in business. With an estimated one in six children in Edmonton living in poverty, a healthy, hot school lunch not only provides each child with a third of his or her daily nutritional requirements, but also allows a child to concentrate on learning. Join the businesses and residents of 104th Street to support this vital cause.
