Citizens are invited to a public meeting to discuss a proposal to amend the Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan and the Zoning Bylaw to create a new Special Area Zone known as an Arena and Entertainment District.
The proposal also calls for the rezoning of two parcels of land from DC2(500) and Core Commercial Arts Zone to the new Arena and Entertainment District Zone, the closure of an undeveloped "walkway", and the disposal of a Municipal Reserve.
The proposal is for lands located north and south of 104 Avenue and west of 101 Street in downtown Edmonton.
The purpose of the applications is to accommodate a proposed development that includes a multi-purpose downtown arena and a mix of high-density entertainment, commercial, institutional, office, residential, cultural and related uses.
The purpose of this public meeting is to provide information to citizens on the application and get public feedback. This is the next step in the City's process for reviewing the proposed rezoning/development.
