Capital City Downtown Plan Open House

Over the past few years, extensive input was gathered from residents on how to transform the downtown into a more vibrant, attractive, high density, mixed-use and walkable area. Workshops, public open houses and information booths have all been part of the process for informing and guiding the content of the new Capital City Downtown Plan.

The new Plan includes improved requirements for streetscapes and building design; details on LRT routes, street-level LRT corridors and future stations in the downtown; land uses for each of the five unique districts that make up the downtown; more housing options; and the inclusion of more parks and open spaces.

A team of city planners, urban designers, architects, transportation planners and landscape architects are finalizing the Plan’s details this spring. The Open House and Public Meeting will be an opportunity for residents to view what is envisioned and provide final input before it goes to City Council for Public Hearing and approval in June 2010.
