The Citadel Theatre invites you to a very special reading of award-winning Canadian playwright Vern Thiessen’s new play, Lenin’s Embalmers, a dark comedy from the writer of Einstein’s Gift; Shakespeare’s Will, and Vimy.

Set in Russia in 1924, Lenin’s Embalmers is about two scientists who are chosen to embalm communist leader Vladimir Lenin’s remains. Their task: to make him live forever or face death themselves.

Lenin’s Embalmers will be read by Ryland Alexander; James Hamilton; John Kirkpatrick; Ian Leung; James MacDonald; Ryan MacKinley; Melissa MacPherson; David McNally; Ken Agrell-Smith.

Lenin’s Embalmers is Directed by Geoffrey Brumlik; Stage Managed by Wayne Paquette.

Lenin’s Embalmers is currently in pre-production to be produced at Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST) in New York, with generous support from the Alfred P. Sloane Foundation.
