#LetsTalk About Mental Illness
My whole life I have tried to understand what was going on with my mom. Sometimes I did understand. Most times, still, I do not. But this post is not actually about my mother's mental illness. It's about mine. Two years ago I started taking medication for Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Dis...

How I Made And Released an EP for $140
It may be hard to make a living from music these days, but at least it doesn’t cost a living anymore. Thanks to some internet magic and good friends, I was able to record and release Where The Air Is Thin, my latest EP, for just under a hundred and fifty bucks. All in. Here’s how I did it.

Coming Down from Where The Air Is Thin
It’s hard to believe, but October 15 has come and gone. Where The Air Is Thin, my first EP, is now available on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Google Play, Amazon and of course this website right here. Saturday night I got to celebrate this milestone in the best way possible–playing these so...

Twenty Four
I've been home now for less than 24 hours. Half that, and most of it spent soaking up sleep. In this short time, the complicated beauty of belonging has unfurled itself like a blooming rose. Or a venus flytrap. Already, I have sensed the transference of a psychic weight that comes to any who...

When CS Lewis Predicted the Internet, it Was Hell
Where the internet draws us together, I am grateful. But is the web is benign–simply a tool without bias? I'm not convinced. What I see looks more like a spider's web, where you and I sit trapped in a cycle of interactions that are not healthy, but easy. The internet is looking a lot like CS...

Join me to learn a new vocabulary for the soul
Near the end of this month, I'll be embarking on yet another new adventure. I am co-leading an arts and faith retreat with Julie and Sam Drew at King's Fold Retreat Centre. I've never been to King's Fold, but I hear it is gorgeous. Serene. Pristine. From the photos and video I've seen, I beli...

These tragic days bring back 30 year old memories. Time for a poem.

Poem 30
This concludes my endeavour to write a poem a day for the month of April. This final poem tries to capture my surprised delight at having succeeded.

Poem 28
A poem that rhymes, about the past things I want to lose and the things I want to keep.

This on follows a form called a Cinquain. Five lines. 2 syllables. 4 syllables. 6 syllables. 8 syllables. 2 syllables. Or thereabouts.

Poem 25
This insane form is called a Paradelle, and apparently it was invented by Billy Collins as a wry joke. But I took it seriously today.
