Breakfast Club YEG

Breakfast Club YEG is a group of ladies in Edmonton, Alberta Canada who get together on a monthly basis to have breakfast and catch up. For three years we have been content to do just that, but now we’ve decided to chronicle our breakfast adventures. This blog is as much for us as it (hopefully) is for you.

Farmers Market Breakfast

In Septemebr, we decided to enjoy the sights, sounds and flavours of one of Edmonton’s main farmers markets, City Market Downtown. After browsing the stalls we ended up with an eclectic meal of cookies, grapes, olives, tomatoes,  granola, vegan cheese, kettle corn, blueberries and doughnuts...

Readers of this blog will of course be familiar with the fantastic Edmonton spot Clementine, so it may come as a surprise to learn that there is an unrelated restaurant in Winnipeg going by the same sweet name. Clementine Cafe is a breakfast and brunch joint located in the city’s historic Exchang...

Waffles – Vegan & GF
Did I not promise a vegan and gluten free waffle?  I did.  I LOVE waffles, especially Belgium waffles. After scouring my favourite sites and reading through numerous recipes and not finding a yeast-based recipe, I decided to use my tried-and-true Joy of Cooking recipe … with modifications. ...

El Cortez

What says summer brunch better than Mexican food on an outdoor patio?!  Nothing really.  It was a perfectly beautiful Saturday in August that we met at El Cortez, in Old Strathcona. It was my first time on their patio, located around back of the restaurant.  I didn’t really know what to exp...

For the month of July we decided to take advantage of the hot weather and Rebecca’s patio and have a breakfast potluck at her place. We had sausages, muffin tin egg cups, hash browns, cantaloupe, bread with homemade saskatoon berry jam, and even a breakfast dessert of rhubarb ice cream sand...

Silas came along for the trip, braving a morning out with the ladies, but really, of all the places he could have come to, this was perfect as there were plenty of motorbikes, trucks ...

Clementine
April Breakfast Club was at the best spot yet – Clementine!  It was amazing, spectacular, exceeding all our wildest expectations.  I don’t know how anything will even match up after our experience on Sunday. Small confession: my husband designed, built and owns Clementine. Yes, I̵...

Ardmore Tea Room, Halifax
On of the best parts of moving to Halifax has been having a whole new food scene to explore.  This city has a seemingly never-ending supply of unique local food restaurants, classic diners, fish-and-chip shops, pizza-by-the-slice, and Lebanese restaurants. In addition to the restaurants themselve...

Pancake Round-up (GF and Vegan)
“Pancakes rule; waffles drool.”  This is the slogan that gets sent back and forth over text message between my sis-and-law and I on a bi-monthly basis.  The truth is: I choose waffles 100% over pancakes!  And yet, I found myself on a quest to find a good pancake … A gluten-free,...
